The Rings of Saturn!Planetarium and Observatory Open House |

Members of the Emory community (and their families and friends) are invited to check out the planetary “Lord of the Rings” on the evening of January 30th. Just drop into the Emory planetarium any time between 7:00 and 10:00 PM for a dramatic, live video feed of Saturn direct from the 24-inch reflector in the observatory. Then go up to Emory’s rooftop observation deck to view Saturn through small telescopes set up for your viewing pleasure. Please note: Live Saturn viewing is weather dependent. Even the best telescopes cannot see through clouds. But members of the Physics Department will be on hand, rain or shine, to show you previously recorded images of Saturn and point out details such as structure and gaps in the rings or storms and shadows on the disc of the planet and to answer your astronomical questions.
