Nonlinear Dynamics with Feedback and Coupling: Laser, Epidemics and Communication
Dynamical systems often receive feedback, and are coupled to other systems, both neighbors or more distant systems. Examples are populations of atoms, bacteria, neurons, or people. Such feedback and coupling lead to synchronization and pattern formation, which may be used for communication of information. I will describe experiments and models of the dynamics in the case of laser systems. It is very interesting to see if there are both qualitative and quantitative aspects of the dynamics that are common, in such diverse systems.
