Quantum Gate Design
A quantum computer, if one could be built, would transform
information technology by providing vastly increased computational
power for certain specialized tasks, such as searching databases
or breaking codes. The objective of quantum gate design is to
theoretically determine the actual computational power of a proposed
quantum computing architecture, such as trapped ions or superconducting
circuits, and to design and optimize real quantum gates and algorithm
implementations for that architecture. Work is done in collaboration
with the UCSB superconducting quantum computation program and our
quantum gate design methods will be applied to that architecture.
