The 50th Rocky Mountain Conference on Analytical Chemistry/Electron Paramagnetic Resonance was held on July 27-31, 2008, in the thin air of Breckenridge, Colorado. Kurt, Jessica, Li, Miao, and Chen journeyed west and participated in the meeting. In between sessions, we found time to ascend to the summit of “Peak 9”, at 13,198 feet.
Each year, magnetic resonance researchers in the southeast gather at the Southeastern Magnetic Resonance Conference. Florida State University was the site of the 37th conference. Kurt, Jessica, Wesley, Li, Miao, and Chen made the annual van trip to participate. Afterwards, we were treated to a tour of the facilities at the nearby National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. The image shows us beneath the structure of the hybird magnet system, which achieves the strongest continuous magnetic fields (45 T) in the world.
