Emory University bestowed the Program of the Year Award for 2019 to Women in Science at Emory (WiSE).  Professor Laura Finzi (holding award) and Senior Lecturer Erin Bonning (2nd from right) are among the WiSE organizers.  The award recognizes "an individual or group who has developed a campus program to address the needs of women and transform the landscape for gender equality at Emory."

WiSE is an initiative comprised of over 50 faculty and administrators from across 10 STEM departments at Emory and Oxford College. The group has convened a community of women-scientists, whom, through advocacy, networking, mentoring, and community building, are working to achieve equity and the full participation of women in science at Emory and in the wider field. To this end, WiSE has led efforts to enhance the visibility of women in STEM at Emory, spotlight the achievements of women-colleagues through nominations for awards and distinctions, and have collaborated with the Office of the Provost to address issues around hiring and pay equity.
