The Physics Department currently houses three major astronomy facilities:
The 56-seat planetarium features a 35 foot dome ceiling, a Zeiss Skymaster ZKP3 star projector with 39 projecting lenses.
The Physics Department's observatory houses a 24" DFM Ritchey-Crietien Cassegrain optical telescope, equipped with 2 CCD detectors and an Apogee APT4 photometer with 9.4 arc-minute ^2 field of view, SBIG Model SGS spectrometer coupled with an ST-10XME CCD camera. Additional peripheral instrumentation includes a Celestron C-8 and a Meade 152mm APO refractor.
The Physics radio telescope has a 25ft. (7.6 meter) dish with a 1.6 degree resolution at 1420 Mhz (neutral hydrogen) is fully motorized and is remotely controllable via network from the the observatory control room.
