Jed Brody and Students Publish Feature Article

Senior Lecturer Jed Brody and two former undergraduate Physics majors, Rafid Kasir and Daniel Weiss, have co-authored a "Featured Article" in the October 2011 issue of the American Journal of Physics. The article, entitled "Oscillations of a water column beneath trapped air" (AJP 79, 1094), describes the intriguing dependence of the natural oscillations of a water column in a tube on water/air proportion, by using hydrostatics, the ideal gas law, and damped harmonic motion.
