Laura turned the table, and was the interviewer, for her colleague and pioneering single molecule biophysicist, Stephen Block, of Stanford University. The exchange followed a presentation by Block about the single molecule approaches, and involved a discussion of Block's career and outlook for single molecule biophysics.

Laura also serves on the Executive Board of the Biophysical Society, in recognition of her work in the area of single molecule studies of genetic switches, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Biophysical Journal.
