Associate Professor Laura Finzi has recently been in the news on the local and national scenes. For an introspective and personal view of Laura, check out the Emory News Center "Profile" interview:
Laura turned the table, and was the interviewer, for her colleague and pioneering single molecule biophysicist, Stephen Block, of Stanford University. The exchange followed a presentation by Block about the single molecule approaches, and involved a discussion of Block's career and outlook for single molecule biophysics.
Optical Tweezers: Biophysics, One Molecule at a Time
this podcast, you will learn about a variety of ways that optical tweezers have been applied to understanding the complex behavior of kinesins, RNA polymerases, and riboswitches at the single-molecule level. Also stay tuned through the end of the presentation to hear the follow-up interview between Steven and Laura Finzi of Emory University as they discuss his career and his views on where the field and technology is heading next.
Professor Laura Finzi is also a member of the Planning Committee, for the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society, that will be held in Philadelphia, PA, February 2-6, 2013. Laura also serves on the Executive Board of the Biophysical Society, in recognition of her work in the area of single molecule studies of genetic switches, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Biophysical Journal.
