Dr. Rasnik receives NSF CAREER Award

Ivan Rasnik has been awarded a prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Ivan's proposal is to study the molecular mechanisms of DNA mismatch damage recognition and repair, by using single molecule fluorescence resonant energy transfer (smFRET) spectroscopy. The results will provide a greater understanding of how proteins interact with and regulate DNA. The proposal also includes plans for the engagement of undergraduates in science, and in particular, underrepresented groups.
