Soft Condensed Matter Group
Our group includes three faculty members with a range of interests
which all could loosely be considered soft condensed matter. The
group currently also includes five undergraduates, seven graduate
students, three postdoctoral fellows, and one technical staff
member. Our interests include soft materials, polymers, nonlinear
dynamics, and fluid mechanics. We also talk frequently with the
statistical physics theory group.
We try to have a group meeting every week, to help facilitate collaboration and interaction between the theory and experimental work. If you are interested in attending these meetings, email Eric Weeks (weeks@physics.emory.edu) to be put on the email list.
- Connie B. Roth
Experiment: polymer blends and films, glass transition, structural relaxation, and nanoscale interactions affecting dynamics at and near interfaces.
- Phil Segrè
Experiment: complex liquids, fluid dynamics, multiphase flow, gelation and jamming of colloidal solutions.
- Eric R. Weeks
Experiment: microscopy of colloidal glasses, nonlinear dynamics, complex fluids, and granular media.
