Bachelor of Science
in Physics and Astronomy
Program description
The BS in Physics and Astronomy utilizes resources such as the department's
new observatory and 24-inch telescope, and is designed for students
planning on graduate school and a career in astronomy.

Physics 116 Introductory Astronomy, with Lab is a
descriptive course intended for non- science majors. Although it
does not count toward the major, it is recommended for Physics/Astronomy
BS students with no background in astronomical observation.
|
Important: |
| • |
B.S. Physics/Astronomy majors must complete 1 PHYSICS
ELECTIVE at their own convenience. The elective could be
a senior Honors thesis or any physics course at or above the 200-level.
|
| • |
All physics courses are offered
only once a year—either in the Fall or Spring semester—with
these exceptions: Physics 115 and 116 are offered both
Fall and Spring semesters. Physics 311S and 312S are offered
in the Spring in alternate years.
