Physics seeks unifying descriptions of how matter, energy, space, and time combine to generate the rich phenomena of the natural world. The repertoire of Physics is also an essential component of modern multidisciplinary initiatives to solve the outstanding scientific and technological problems of our time. The Department of Physics offers a comprehensive education in Physics and exciting research opportunities, which prepare students for academic and professional careers. We offer the Ph.D. in Physics, a combined Ph.D. in Physics/M.S. in Computational Science, and five undergraduate degree programs leading to the B.S. or B.A. degrees. Our approach is marked by individualized student mentoring and collegial interactions among faculty, students, and staff.
